CYBER SECURITY TRAINEESHIPS
FOR EMPLOYERS
The Certificate IV in Cyber Security is a technician-level qualification providing graduates with the knowledge and technical skills that enables them to:
- Monitor the risk of cyber security attacks
- Implement appropriate software
- Use a range of tools and procedures to mitigate cyber security threats
- Protect an organisation from insider security breaches
- Develop systems to minimise network vulnerabilities and risks.
The Federal Government offers incentives to businesses taking on Certificate IV Cyber Security Trainees directly. Some of these benefits may include:
- Commencement and completion incentives — $1,500 for Certificate IV in Cyber Security on commencement and $2500 on completion*
- Additional Identified Skills Shortage payment — $2000* — Telecommunication Technicians are on the Skills Needs List
- Rural and Regional Skills Shortage incentive — an extra $1000*
- Mature-aged worker and adult apprentice incentives — $750 to $4000*
- Incentives for employing people with a disability*

The NSW Government provides:
- Fully subsidised training through its Smart and Skilled program removing the cost of training for trainees until 2023.
- Payroll tax offsets
Employers benefit from taking on a trainee immediately by:
- Reduced cost of employment
- Training can be customised to the needs of the business
- Close relationships with trainers
- Additional support if employing through a group training organisation such as Apprenticeships Support Australia.

Cyber security is an area where you can build a strong career through vocational education and training. The sector is currently facing a skills shortage. In recent years there has been a strong movement to improve industry standards, promote ongoing training and upskilling of the workforce. The cyber security industry provides a diverse range of exciting careers. Cyber security is not just the realm of the IT Department. Workers with diverse skills are required.
The Certificate IV in Cyber Security is specifically designed to develop the skills and knowledge required for a career in cyber security at the para-professional level.
Students will gain practical knowledge and skills in:

- Website security
There are NO formal entry requirements.

- Work integrated with a traineeship program, subject to having a suitable job role and eligibility criteria.
- Full time for one year with a possibility of an unpaid internship during the second semester.
