NSW Going Global Export program — Independent Education Providers to China
The NSW Government is expanding our offshore presence in Greater China to support NSW businesses.
The education industry in China is booming, and Australia is the third most popular study destination for Chinese students.
Eligible small to medium enterprises (SMEs) can apply for free support to expand delivery of education, training, learning and development services to China. The Program will invite a cohort of businesses to be actively engaged in March-April 2023. Applications open on 12 December 2022 and close 29 January 2023.

The NSW Training Awards are conducted annually by Training Services NSW within the NSW Department of Education to recognise outstanding achievement in the Vocational Education and Training sector.
The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, training organisations, large and small employers. One of the main aims of the program is to discover Vocational Education and Training Ambassadors as recognising Training Provider & Employer Organisations that are kicking goals in the VET space.

New Jobs and Skills Councils
In an address to the CEDA, Minister O’Connor announced the creation of 10 new Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs), formally known as Industry Clusters.
The new JSCs are as follows:
- Finance, Technology and Business
- Mining and Automotive
- Arts, Personal Services, Retail, Tourism and Hospitality
- Transport and Logistics
- Manufacturing
- Agribusiness
- Energy, Gas and Renewables
- Public Safety and Government
- Early Educators, Health, and Humane Services
- Building, Construction and Property

Smart and Skilled Update No. 188-191, December 2022, has been published by Training Services NSW.
Smart and Skilled is an NSW Government program that helps people get qualifications in in-demand skills and industries. It’s a key part of the NSW vocational education and training system.

Property Services Expert Panel collaborates on industry issues
The NSW Government has recently renewed membership of the Property Services Expert Panel (the panel), appointed by the NSW Minister for Fair Trading. The panel provides advice and recommendations to the NSW Government on current issues and roadblocks for the property services industry.
Congratulations to Sasha Boe, MD Real Estate Training solutions and Deputy Chair of ACFIPS, on her re-appointment to this important Property Services Expert panel. The panel is currently working through ways to uplift the performance of mandatory continuing professional development and cyber security challenges in residential tenancies.
Fee-Free Courses
Enrolments for Fee-free TAFE in 2023 are open. Courses to lean new skills or upskill existing ones in high industry demand sectors such as Hospitality, Community Services, Information Technology and Business are still available.
