Firearms Consultative Group.

The Firearms Consultative group was formed as a working committee in 2006. The main reason for the formation of the group was to look at ways of improving training standards and to develop improved communication and counsultation with the industry and regulators.

Since its inception the consultative group has been active in looking at establishing benchmarks and ensuring OH&S practices and procedures that ensure that the highest standards of public safety are maintained.

The ACFIPS has been involved in providing advice to the Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate (SLED) and Firearms Registry and assisting them to make informed decisions related to the development and implementation of the new training requirements.

Consultations have been held with the NSW Firearms Registry especially in the implementation of new licensing requirement of Armed Guards and CIT operatives.
